Working Drawings for warehouse project

For a project I am currently doing at university I have been set the task of designing a collection of 10 outfits (we only have to make 2 garnets which can create an outfit) for the british clothing company Warehouse. Andrea the jersey designer for warehouse came in to brief us and gave us 4 trends we could choose from for SS13 to bace our collection on, these being: Masai, Binary, Flounce and NYC Grunge.

Any one who has seen my previous work, or that knows me would of properly expected me to pick the grunge trend. I was tempted, but instead i decided to go with Masai as a means of pushing myself and my work. The dress below is one of the pieces from my collection that I will be making.
The main body of the dress will be made from a fine jersey with a black chiffon bodice which features stud and chain detail along the neck line and a twisted and knotted detail at the waist.
I should be making the toile for this in the next week and will be posting pictures of the toile as well as my other work soon. :)

Pall and bear

Hear are just a couple of things that I got for Christmas, all are from pall and bear.
Studded peplum dress: I love this, the dress is very figure hugging and draws you in at the waist, I just need an excuse to wear it!! Although I may just have to post a picture of me in it soon.
Stone wash jeans with stud detailing down the side: i couldn't find a close up of the studs, so I will make a point of wearing them soon and take a picture. But the blue overlocking on the inside makes for an interesting "pop" when turning up the cuffs. Along with the stud detailing they add that little extra to the simple skinny jean. There a bit snug at the moment, but once i have burnt of the christmas fat they should fit amazingly.
Chain detail black skinny: the simple chain detailing down the outside seam just makes these jeans for me, what else can i say? there committable, there cut beautifully and like the other jeans there that little something more than the simple skinny. I am wearing these jeans hear in my OOTD.
Chunky knitted sweater vest : With stud detailing on the shoulders and tassels down the arm hole again this is a twist on the "classic" knitted vest, and it is defiantly along way from the vest Chandler was always wearing.

his jeans looked better on me any way.

These are a pair of shorts i made from a pair of my ex's jeans. And sorry to disappoint you but i didn't cut them up out hatred of for closure. He completely destroyed them playing football waiting for a bus, ripping the fabric at the crotch beyond repair (i have sewn up many of his jeans countless times) and i got them for scrap fabric.

  •  I started by cutting the length of the legs still keeping the shorts quite long at this stage and keeping the bottom of the legs for scrap.
  • I then unpinned the waist band and belt loops and then unpinned the front back and side seams. (I kept the back yoke, pockets and zip in, basically because I'm lazy)
  • using the scrap denim i patched up the larger holes in the fabric and darned the smaller ones.
  • I then pinned and tacked the front and back pieces back together, putting them on to check fit and adjusting.
  • once i was happy with the fit i sewed the seems together using a flat welt down the center front and back, reversed lapped seam along the outer leg this left the edges exposed for a more distressed look and a kind of patchwork lapped type seem along the inside legs.
  • at this point i would have reattached the waist band and belt loops, only they went walkies, so I'm leaving that off, but it adds to the distressed effect.

  • I then cut the shorts to length and dipped in bleach. (unfortunately they turned orange not white/gray, but nether mind.

  • once rinsed and dried I continued by adding dome studs to the back pocket and the front and dripped and distressed the fabric.

ta-da!!

i love the outcome, now i just need to get out and wear them ;)
