Hilfiger Denim

My final project for my second year of university was a group calibration project with Tommy Hilfiger's Denim line.

For this project I was put into a group with 5 of my peers, in which we would design a capsule collection of 8 outfits (making 6 meaning 1 each) for either S/S15 or A/W16 for this collection we would have to come up with a location in the States and an activity tying in with the location in keeping with the Hilfigers all American family vibe.

To make this project even more exiting we were able to Skype with the head designer and pattern cutter from the Hilfiger line giving us an amazing opportunity to pick the brains of Hilfiger and give us an incredible in site into what they were looking for, one thing that they were particularly interested in was the mixing of different fabrics and having unexpected elements within the collection.

As if being able to Skype with the guys from Hilfiger wasn't enough the head pattern cutter Phil, flew in to meet with us for our fitting review, but I am getting ahead of my self.
As a group we settled on the location of Nantucket.

We came up with the idea of the girls weekend away; the sisters and cousins going away to their old family holiday home, where they go fishing, play tennis and go sailing. Mixing both the clothes they brought with them and the clothing belonging to their fathers and grandfathers which have been at the home for generations. Combining the use of larger silhouette's with more fitted garments, which we mirrored with a heavy use of denim compered with more modern fabrics and finishings, such as Ripstop Nylons and bonded mesh.

Contrast Denim Shorts

I have a new item added to my etsy store:
A pair of denim cut off shorts with distressed hem. The left side has been bleached to a near white giving a speckled effect. The waist band sits about an inch and a half below the natural waist helping to give the shorts a very relaxed feel the outside side seams are also open an inch and half up from the hem to help give a relaxed worn in feel.

SIZE: Waist band from side to side 38cm

My Work in the 1st and 2nd year fashion show

At the end of every year my university puts on a fashion show to show the work of the second years last project and to show a selection of the first years work. (I am a first year student) and all 3 of my garments got selected for the show.

The first 2 outfits were for my "capturing the market" project, were I was to design for the clothing store Warehouse under the theme Masai

In the first outfit, I made the jacket made out of 100% silk with bleached denim pockets and panel in the back. The jacket has a relaxed feel with dropped shoulders and a rolled collar and brass buttons along the centre front.

the second is a maxi dress with a chiffon blouse and jersey skirt with a twisted waist. and embellished detail along the neck line

The there was a dress for my "A Cut Above" project, in which I had to design and make a dress for a chosen designer, mine being Rick Owens, This dress has a wet look lycra skirt and a waxed top. The fins across the bust line going across to the back represent the ribs with an open back and exposed zip running up the back to the shoulders.

Pall and bear

Hear are just a couple of things that I got for Christmas, all are from pall and bear.
Studded peplum dress: I love this, the dress is very figure hugging and draws you in at the waist, I just need an excuse to wear it!! Although I may just have to post a picture of me in it soon.
Stone wash jeans with stud detailing down the side: i couldn't find a close up of the studs, so I will make a point of wearing them soon and take a picture. But the blue overlocking on the inside makes for an interesting "pop" when turning up the cuffs. Along with the stud detailing they add that little extra to the simple skinny jean. There a bit snug at the moment, but once i have burnt of the christmas fat they should fit amazingly.
Chain detail black skinny: the simple chain detailing down the outside seam just makes these jeans for me, what else can i say? there committable, there cut beautifully and like the other jeans there that little something more than the simple skinny. I am wearing these jeans hear in my OOTD.
Chunky knitted sweater vest : With stud detailing on the shoulders and tassels down the arm hole again this is a twist on the "classic" knitted vest, and it is defiantly along way from the vest Chandler was always wearing.
