denim shirt with patch pocket

This is a vintage denim shirt which has been re-made and re constructed for a modern fit and to be in keeping with to days "vintage grunge" fashions.

A heavily woven silk 'tribal/ethnic' fabric has been sewn onto the right breast pocket giving the shirt a unique edge over other denim shirts as it is also highly in keeping with the tribal trends for this summer.

the width of the shirt when flat is 24" from the bottom of the arm hole to arm hole. and the length from the bottom of the collar stand to the hem is 27" making it perfect for a unisex garment especially if worn over sized

This shirt is a statement item and highly in keeping with current fashion trends, yet this shirt has the benefit of being a one off, you will stand out from the crowd in it.

As all of the details have been done by hand this shirt is truly a one of a kind and there is no other garment exactly like it.

This shirt is one of a kind and is a truly unique vintage revival piece.

Moths and Megan Frau

The First project for my second year at uni is on tailoring and over the summer we had to come up with a concept. At the moment I am greatly inspired by the artist Megan Frau who combines moths birds and other animals/ insects into her portraiture creating very textural pieces which have strong links to decay.

I have previously looked at her work for my As portraiture project to the left is one of Megan's prints were as the right is my recreation

...
Any way, so for my tailoring project I am currently planing (this will properly change over the summer)  to work the patterns and texture of the moths and birds into the lining of my jacket, bellow is a drawing of a humming bird and two moths that I am later planing on turning into a repeat pattern.

Outfit of the day: heart in hand

So this is yesterdays outfit of the day. I am wearing a long grey column maxi dress which has been shredded in the skirt. It is clinched in at the waist with a narrow studded belt.
Over the top I am wearing a mesh short sleeved crop top and my Heart In Hand beanie which i got at slam dunk festival in Hatfeild. I got loads of compliments about the dress and even had one guy bet the number of tattoos i had, He did wrongly guess that the guy I'm with would have 6 tattoos and is a musician (which actuly describes my ex)but any way hear it is...

As i said i got the hat at Slam Dunk, and I've got to say that heart in hand were amazing :) so at the end of the evening i brought my self this, as after all who can resist buying a beanie. any way the guys were at the stall when i brought it who insisted on taking a photo of me in it. just a shame they never uploaded it so i couldn't show you the picture.

My Work in the 1st and 2nd year fashion show

At the end of every year my university puts on a fashion show to show the work of the second years last project and to show a selection of the first years work. (I am a first year student) and all 3 of my garments got selected for the show.

The first 2 outfits were for my "capturing the market" project, were I was to design for the clothing store Warehouse under the theme Masai

In the first outfit, I made the jacket made out of 100% silk with bleached denim pockets and panel in the back. The jacket has a relaxed feel with dropped shoulders and a rolled collar and brass buttons along the centre front.

the second is a maxi dress with a chiffon blouse and jersey skirt with a twisted waist. and embellished detail along the neck line

The there was a dress for my "A Cut Above" project, in which I had to design and make a dress for a chosen designer, mine being Rick Owens, This dress has a wet look lycra skirt and a waxed top. The fins across the bust line going across to the back represent the ribs with an open back and exposed zip running up the back to the shoulders.

Outfit of the day: chiffon and lace dress

A black chiffon dress with an elasticated waist and lace yoke, Paired with a pair of suspender leggings from nasty gal

I think this is quite a cute little dress and the leggings help to add something different to it, and kind of toughen it up a tad.
