new layout

So i had a little hiccup updating the layout of the blog, completely losing the previous layout and having to start it all again from scratch
...
But hear we are, a little wile later, I will properly continue tweaking it in the next couple of days. So don't be surprised if it all changes again and little bits hear and there don't quite match.
...
But now its time to do a little bit of sewing.

Vintage Skater Skirt With Hand Painted Hem

Last week I made a new skirt to go onto my etsy store. The skirt is made from vintage fabric which used t oblong to my grate-grandmother and the hem has been hand painted to give an ombre effect.
I am making each skirt that I sell specifically for that individual customer and their waist measurement.

The skirt is for sale at www.crossmyheartapparel.etsy.com

new outfit on my lookbook.nu

Contrast Denim Shorts

I have a new item added to my etsy store:
A pair of denim cut off shorts with distressed hem. The left side has been bleached to a near white giving a speckled effect. The waist band sits about an inch and a half below the natural waist helping to give the shorts a very relaxed feel the outside side seams are also open an inch and half up from the hem to help give a relaxed worn in feel.

SIZE: Waist band from side to side 38cm

denim shirt with patch pocket

This is a vintage denim shirt which has been re-made and re constructed for a modern fit and to be in keeping with to days "vintage grunge" fashions.

A heavily woven silk 'tribal/ethnic' fabric has been sewn onto the right breast pocket giving the shirt a unique edge over other denim shirts as it is also highly in keeping with the tribal trends for this summer.

the width of the shirt when flat is 24" from the bottom of the arm hole to arm hole. and the length from the bottom of the collar stand to the hem is 27" making it perfect for a unisex garment especially if worn over sized

This shirt is a statement item and highly in keeping with current fashion trends, yet this shirt has the benefit of being a one off, you will stand out from the crowd in it.

As all of the details have been done by hand this shirt is truly a one of a kind and there is no other garment exactly like it.

This shirt is one of a kind and is a truly unique vintage revival piece.

Moths and Megan Frau

The First project for my second year at uni is on tailoring and over the summer we had to come up with a concept. At the moment I am greatly inspired by the artist Megan Frau who combines moths birds and other animals/ insects into her portraiture creating very textural pieces which have strong links to decay.

I have previously looked at her work for my As portraiture project to the left is one of Megan's prints were as the right is my recreation

...
Any way, so for my tailoring project I am currently planing (this will properly change over the summer)  to work the patterns and texture of the moths and birds into the lining of my jacket, bellow is a drawing of a humming bird and two moths that I am later planing on turning into a repeat pattern.
